Frequently Asked Questions
WHO IS YOUR TYPICAL CLIENT?
I work with a broad range of adults who are managing school, demanding careers, and life, while also experiencing anxiety and mood dysregulation or relationship issues. I also specialize in women’s reproductive health concerns such anxiety and depression during periods of pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, and perinatal loss. Many people I work with seek clarity in their relationships or are experiencing relationship concerns.
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
I am currently an in-network provider for BlueCross Blue Shield PPO plans, but am not a part of any other health care plans. However, many insurance companies will reimburse individuals for a percentage of the cost of treatment with an out-of-network provider. I am happy to provide you with an invoice that includes your payment history if you are interested in pursuing reimbursement. Questions about reimbursement are best addressed to your insurance provider as policies differ widely between companies.
CAN YOU SEE ME IF I LIVE IN ANOTHER STATE?
The licensing laws for psychologists differs from state to state. I am approved by the PSYPACT commission to provide telehealth sessions to clients in 42 states and territories: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. For an up-to-date list of approved states and territories, click here. In order to practice telepsychology under the authority of PSYPACT, a psychologist must have an active Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) granted from the PSYPACT Commission. You can verify a license here.
DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO A CERTAIN NUMBER OF SESSIONS?
Not at all. If you only want to meet once to learn about stress management or depression/anxiety, that’s fine. I see many individuals for only 6-12 sessions. Other individuals are looking for longer term therapy, and are interested in a therapist to check in with over the course of months or even years. I am happy to provide this type of care as well.
